Mmhala Tours and Safari was founded in 1995 by Charles van Zyl and his wife Jeanette. Mmhala is the Shangaan word for Gemsbok (Oryx) who lives in the land we call the Kalahari.
Charles, a qualified professional hunter, started the company as a hobby and it grew over the past years. The main interest was to assist and guide international hunters on their safaris. Tourism to South Africa has grown over recent years and this led to the company creating their own touring division.
 
We are based in the Northern parts of Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa . It is here that the team ensures that every aspect of the company runs smooth. Our popular tours remain, while new itineraries are constantly being researched.  
We operate more effectively in Africa , by being based in Africa . Things don’t always work out quite as planned in Africa but let’s face it, its part of the attraction. With us you’ll leave South Africa as a friend.
